NCJGA Mission Statement

Our mission is to unify the community resources of North County to make junior golf accessible, affordable, and fun for families with boys and girls of all ages and skill levels.

Unifying Local Resources

The biggest challenge facing local junior golf is the fragmentation of local resources.

There are national developmental programs like The First Tee. There are nearby programs for experienced golfers like San Diego Junior Golf. But, there is a void in our local community. It can be difficult for families to get answers to questions like:

  1. What kind of instruction does my child need?
  2. Are there junior golf resources near our home or school?
  3. What kind of clubs should I get my child?
  4. When should my child get fitted for clubs?
  5. Is my child ready to play in a tournament? If so, which one?
  6. How can we ensure that our child has a positive experience in their first tournament?

Our long-term goal is to be the hub for junior golf resources in North County. We want to establish a junior golf network with local golf courses, teaching professionals, and schools.

Junior Golf should be Accessible

Tournament golf is not very accessible to prospective junior golfers. Most junior tours cater to elite golfers. If you begin golf after the age of 10, it can be difficult to find tournaments for your skill level.

This is why NCJGA tournament brackets are based on skill in addition to age. If you want to be paired with a friend, just ask. If you want to bring your entire soccer team, we'll add a bracket just for them.

Junior Golf should be Affordable

Junior golf tournaments are too expensive. This year, our goal is to raise $100,000 and reduce our tournament prices below $40. You can help by becoming an NCJGA sponsor. All donations are tax deductible.

Junior Golf should be Fun

NCJGA embraces the 9 core values of The First Tee, but we also believe (above all else) that junior golf should be fun for the entire family.

We believe every athlete in every sport should experience the fun of tournament golf. When professional athletes aren't playing for money, they are having fun playing golf.

NCJGA is all about "keeping it fun". When junior golfers focus on having fun, they excel. Many NCJGA players compete in SDJGA events or play for their school teams. NCJGA alumni have received college scholarships and gone on to professional golf careers.
